"When you wake up everyday
Please don't throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart
'Cause we are all a part
Of the ordinary miracle..
It seems so exceptional
That things work out after all
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today
The sun comes out and shines so bright
And disappears again at night
It's just another
Ordinary miracle today"

overall personality~ Most who see Trisha don't think there would be very much depth to her; her happy disposition and calmly quiet demeanor often fool strangers who see her pacifism and soft heart as making her nothing more than weak-willed. Those people are often very surprised when they discover the determination and will to survive underneath her soft demeanor. While she avoids causing pain to others as much as she can and would prefer not to be involved in conflicts she has no problem standing up for her beliefs and family when it's necessary- as it often is in these troubled times.
When around her family there isn't much about her that changes. With her sons she's very affectionate and proud of their every accomplishment and does what she can to make their lives a bit easier- and hides some guilt at the way they've had to grow up so quickly, as well as what happened to Alphonse when he was an infant. Trisha also hides the truth about her weakening body and the state of her soul from long use as a source, though she rarely brings it up to keep her sons and husband from worrying further. She enjoys cooking and uses every bit she can from her farm- or fresh meat- without wasting a single bit of it. Similarly she likes the extensive effort that the farm takes and knowing that the end result of her efforts helps the family as a whole. On Hohenheim's infrequent trips home life continues about as usual, though there's a wider smile on Trisha's face and she pulls out every special treat she's been saving for him.

history~ There wasn't anything of particular importance about Trisha's birth, though she was much loved and enthusiastically accepted. Her family had been in Rizembul for at least four generations before she came onto the scene and her home had been there at least that long as well. Surrounded by a feeling of closeness and belonging she grew up as a pleasantly social child, well-adjusted and happy. Animals and plants seemed to naturally grow under her care, and even housework came easily. This was a good turn of luck; her parents died when she was a junior and she had her hands full with running her farm as well as keeping up at school. With her steady intelligence and diligence she managed to graduate a year early and at sixteen was running her family's farm full-time with no regrets. With the Rockbell family just down the road still close friends Trisha still managed to get away and relax on occasion and had the good life of a young adult.
One day the Rockbells introduced her to a slightly older man named van Hohenheim; he'd just moved into town under mysterious circumstances, but the bright-eyed girl was almost immediately smitten with his handsome features, intelligence and thoughtfulness. Though quiet she managed to draw him out of his shell with her good nature and soon he felt the same about her as she did for him. After a relatively short courtship the pair were married and moved into her ancestral home. Sometimes odd facets of her husband's previous life would appear, but she enjoyed helping him with his alchemical research; they'd discovered early in their relationship that she could be a source of energy for him and even with the risks she took joy in his work.
Their two sons, Edward and Alphonse, were born only a year apart and were Trisha's pride and joy, filling the spaces in her heart that weren't already taken by their father. Considering his past the children were given their mother's last name and she did her best to raise them as she'd been raised, with love, care and a deep willingness to give them whatever they needed to learn and grow. While Hohenheim traveled for various reasons the sole responsibility of the farm and children fell onto her shoulders, but she never let her worry and loneliness show. The Rockbells had a daughter around the same age and the time visiting with her old friends was one of the few times Trisha showed her tension.
Meanwhile the state of the world only disintegrated further. The corporations grabbed more and more power within every facet of life, including the military- but out in the country the effect wasn't felt as acutely. When power and water got too expensive they simply reverted to the way their predecessors had lived, storing their own foods and readying generators for when power was absolutely essential. Most of the other families tired of this lifestyle quickly and moved away with everything they could; pretty soon the Elrics and the Rockbells were two of the only four families left in town. They worked together to survive and even had some pleasant moments as well.
When Alphonse was under a year old Hohenheim's enemy- the CEO of Shamballa Inc. had found them and tried to take her sons. Being older and more tempermental Ed fought back but Al was stolen away. Fortunately Hohenheim was home at that point, and with a sense of panic Trisha left her eldest son at the Rockbell home while the parents left to rescue their younger son. Hohenheim's powerful alchemy made the mission a success and they managed to get Al home- but he was greatly changed. His spirits seemed unchanged and he was healthy though- and the research Van undertook was inconclusive. The only option was to live life as usual and hope things turned out for the best, which Trisha was rather used to. Before long the family was back to its normal routine, though with a good deal more secrecy.
The extended research had one negative outcome; Trisha began to sicken in a very subtle way, her soul weakening and her body tiring and recovering less slowly from every bout of alchemy that Hohenheim used. Unwilling to worry her family further she kept this hidden for as long as possible until there was no way to disguise it any longer. She makes sure her sons are unaware though- and otherwise she lives in the best way she knows, keeping the farm and family running smoothly while waiting for the world to make sense again.
