"I feel like, I would like
To be somewhere else doing something that matters
And I'll admit here, while I sit here
My mind wastes away and my doubts start to gather
Whats the purpose? It feels worthless
So unwanted like I've lost all my value
I can't find it, not in the least bit
and I'm just scared, so scared that I'll fail you
And sometimes I think that I'm not any good at all
And sometimes I wonder why, why I'm even here at all
But then you assure me
I'm a little more than useless
And when I think that I can't do this
You promise me that I'll get through this
And do something right
Do something right for once"

Appearance~ Alphonse Elric stands at five foot six inches and weights in at one hundred and forty pounds. He is slightly on the pale side due to the lack of sun light in Rizembol and has odd tattoo-like markings covering his body that give a slight red glow when he uses earth-alchemy and blue when he uses healing alchemy (though he has not even figured out how to get skin to heal yet). His eyes are a gold-brown color just a shade darker than his hair.
Al's build is slim but muscular, he does not do any special training, but is naturally strong from his father's side of the family. overall personality~ Alphonse is an intelligent kid, he is only one step behind his brother at most times, and can solve most problems without violence. He is sensitive to other people's feelings and needs and tries his best not to hurt any one's feelings. He tends to lean on the pacifist side, not approving violence and trying to avoid it most of the time. Although he disapproves violence he will fight if necessary to protect others or to fight for what is right. When it comes to alchemy, Al has gotten a strange and unique ability, able to use alchemy with no circle nor a "battery" soul companion. He is more skilled in physical combat than Ed, and often beats his older brother during sparring, even as children, Ed had never beaten him in hand-to-hand combat, though, Alphonse is modest about it and gets embarrassed when Ed tells others about it.
Alphonse "looks up" to Edward and tries his best to fallow in his older brother's foot steps and tries to help him in any way he can. He often takes time to make sure that Edward and Trisha get enough food and sleep to function while they keep their small farm. He likes animals and has always wanted a cat, though he has never been allowed one. He often tries to pick up strays and ask his mom if he can keep it but is always told no because they can't take care of it since they have little resources even for themselves.

history~Born to a well known alchemist and his young wife Alphonse had an easy life. That is until he was about ten months old. He was in the back yard with his brother as his mother was bringing the laundry inside when two men came into the yard and snatched up the child. Their intent was to take both children but the teething Edward made a fuss and bit one of the men causing him to let go. The two men returned to Dante with the second born of her ex-lover, Van Hohenheim. Luckily the boy was too young to remember anything about what happened. He was in Dante's clutches for a good two weeks before Van broke into the woman's hideout and took his son back, though not in the best shape. The baby was lethargic and covered in strange markings that weren't tattooed on but embedded into the skin. Once he was returned to his mother he was quickly brought back to health. but was never told how he obtained the markings.
While in school he wasn't very popular, especially his first year. None of the kids there wanted to let him join them in anything because of his markings. But about half way through his second year one of the older kids invited him to sit with them on a day his brother was out sick. The eleven year old had him sit with him and his friends before asking questions about his markings, calling them tattoos. A bit confused but happy to be sitting with someone other than his brother he told them that he had them as long as he could remember, the other kids started coming up with theories that he was born with them or that he was an alien, but they didn't make fun of him or tell him to go away.
As school progressed he got all A's in his classes and got along well with others, and when the younger kids saw he was hanging out with fifth and sixth graders they all tried to be his friends thinking that since the older kids liked him he "must be cool". That summer his father started to teach the two alchemy, though they were not aloud to use the formulas they learned yet. But the two did any way.
By the time Al was in sixth grade the world and civil wars broke out and most of the families in Rizembul were already moved away due to the economy being suckish. Two months after the war started the power was turned off and their father went away for unknown reasons to them. He was no longer able to attend the school and turned to his mother for home schooling. By that time he was figuring out that he could use alchemy without someone near as a source, when he told his mother about his discovery she told him not to use alchemy at all. He didn't know why she didn't want him using alchemy and obeyed her as long as she was around, but when she wasn't he'd use it to do repairs other-wise undo-able without it.
As the seasons progressed he found that it was steadily growing colder, rather than warmer as spring approached. They even got snowfall in the middle of "summer" once. Because of this more repairs to the house, barn and chicken coop needed to be done, the cold and rain were cracking the wood frames and eating away at the roofs. While they had no wood to repair the structures Al decided to use dead tree limbs as patches for alchemy. That was the first time the alchemy effected him negatively; after fixing the holes he became incredibly tired. From than on he started limiting his alchemy but still used it when necessary.
To the day he stays at home with his mother and brother, keeping their little self-sustaining farm running while helping any refugees that happen to pass through, the area.

roleplay sample~ The sun was high and bright but the land was still cold and frozen. The morning frost had not evaporated or even melted from dawn to the current time. The young alchemist knelt down and picked a small plant. It was used in tea to cure headaches, or his mother told him. But he wasn't one to argue with his mom, he'd rather do all he could to help her out. While tucking the plant away into a messenger bag on his side he stood and looked around to see if there was any wild mint around. Spotting a small patch of it he smiled and walked over to the plant as one of the so called feral cats came over to see what he was doing. As he crouched to pick some of the leaves he gave the cat a pat on the head as it rubbed against him. Despite being so cold out the animals such as the wild cats seemed to fair quite well in the weather. There weren't many good-sized leaves on the mint plant but there wasn't much he could do about it. The boy tucked the leaves into his bag before picking up the cat and standing once more. He wished he could take some of the cats inside but his mom said no because they couldn't take care of house cats and barn cats could keep themselves sustained. But that didn't mean he couldn't sneak the little gray cat into the house. Smiling he started back to the house
